Lutherans Concerned/North America
Mission Statement: Working at the intersection of oppressions, The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) embodies, inspires, advocates and organizes for the acceptance and full participation of people of all sexual orientations and gender identities within the Lutheran communion and its ecumenical and global partners.
As a "Reconciling in Christ" Community, Zion has been nationally recognized by Lutherans Concerned/North America for its endeavor to live out the Gospel`s principles of inclusiveness and justice for all God`s people. People of all sexual orientations, gender expressions, and non-traditional family status are welcome to participate fully in the life of the congregation. Members of the LGBTQI community worship together with the entire congregation on Sunday mornings and on other festival days.
In addition, members from Zion work with the Diversity Task Force on Sexual Orientation and Gender Expression of the Southeast Michigan Synod of the ELCA. For more information on the Diversity Task Force, please contact Pat Gilbreath psg519@sbcglobal.net or Rob Montry montry@umich.edu .
