Summer is such a fun time for everyone, filled with holidays, sunny days out and just great times with friends and family. However, when we have so much going on, sometimes our health is pushed back in our list of priorities.

Stay Hydrated

 

Our first tip which is absolutely essential to keep you healthy over the summer in warmer weather is to stay hydrated. You should be drinking around two litres of water a day all throughout the year as a minimum, but when it is particularly warm, you should drink two and a half litres.

 

Fizzy drinks or alcohol don’t count towards this, so but you should be drinking two and a half litres of water on top of any other drinks! To make your water a bit more exciting, flavour it with cucumber and mint, oranges, berries or your favourite fruit!

 

Remember Your Vitamins

 

Next up, when you are eating out a lot, you need to remember your vitamins as it is vital you are fuelling your body. Vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin A and vitamin D are all essential in the summer months, so taking a variety of supplements or a multivitamin will help to make sure that you are consuming everything you need if you are short on time.

 

You should also eat a variety of fruit and veg to help cover all of these. Smoothies are a great way to consume a variety of different fruits and are ideal for the summer!

 

Stay Active

 

You also need to make sure that you are staying healthy over the summer. The best way to do this is to enjoy morning walks in the sunshine, plan beachside walks, go cycling along the promenade, go to group exercise classes outside or enjoy some yoga in the garden. The summer is such a great time to be outside, so making the effort to stay active at the same time will make you feel great!

 

Wear Your SPF

 

Being outside and enjoying the sunshine can bring us so much joy, but you need to think of your health as well. So, make sure that you are using SPF everywhere that is exposed to the sun. The sun can be very damaging, so SPF should be a priority. Top up your suncream regularly throughout the day, especially when the weather is really hot!
